I’ve Just Been Stung By An Aquatic Delicacy; I Am Hardly In The Mood For Seafood

Well, it’s true,  I have just been stung by a jellyfish; I even blistered. We swabbed it with vinegar. Vinegar works well on jellyfish stings and sore tounges and is even said to soothe bee stings. I have tried it on tounges and jellyfish stings and they both work. Anyhow, I really did quote: I’ve just been stung by an aquatic delicacy; I am hardly in the mood for seafood.

I can vouch for the historicity of that statement. Might critique the spelling of tongues, were I in the mood. But I thought baby crabs for 180 pesos looked irresistible. Admittedly, it wasn’t me that was stung…

Bad luck, life can be very unfair sometimes. You could always get your own back by persuading your mother to treat you to an edible jellyfish – assuming that any such thing exists. She will know. If not an ice cream might tip the balance.

We have just spent the afternoon at Tai O, where there are bowls and bowls of writhing things in shells on many stalls and some truly horrible smelling dried fish at others. So Victor wasn’t in the mood for seafood either – he had pork chops for lunch! I could distinguish most of the fresh seafood in my noodles, and the bits I didn’t recognise tasted good. Back to England tomorrow.

Winegar for wasps, bicarb for bees.
